Lovelights is a groove & jam oriented, good time rock & roll band.
The Lovelights
have come together
organically over the last couple of years. In our early days we knew each other as a group of friends, who played in and sat-in with each others bands. (Bands such as
Ol' Brown Shoe, Playing Dead, Don't Let Go, The Knot
,
etc.) We've played mostly parties and mainly cover songs from our favorite bands and artists.
Recently we expanded on that theme, and have started playing and recording our own songs. We've been enjoying the new songs so much, that we figured we should take these tunes "out on the road" and book club and concert dates. (Although we still love playing parties, so please contact us if you need a band for your party - oh yeah!)
In our sound, we think you'll hear the influences of such groups as The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Phish and artists such as Paul Simon,
Joni Mitchell
, Eric Clapton and
Bonnie Raitt
, to name a few. We believe our style and song writing is profoundly influenced by the Hunter/Garcia/Weir/Lesh school. We see that as a stlye that looks to start out with a good, well crafted "song". And then play and explore the song's possibilities in performance. With this approach, we strive to light and catch that special spark, to help create some of the magic of music!
